Those of you who are not familiar with this part of France will be delighted to know that the house is surrounded by some of the most beautiful and oldest villages in France. Auvillar, with its history dating back to the 10th century, is one such place and visits will be planned during your stay. Farmers market takes place there on a Sunday morning from 8.30 - 12.30 selling typical French produce. The Pottery market also starts in October, so very timely for us!

Director Lasse Hallstrom, is said to have taken his inspiration for the film ‘Chocolat’ (staring Juliette Binoche) from Nérac, which is another very old small town within a short distance from the house. The town boasts a Port and some truly magnificent vistas from the highest point. Woodlands where King Henri IV once rode with his men into battle are still ‘unchanged’ and are amazing places to go for long scented walks. There is also a Chocolaterie artisanale in Nérac which you can visit - beware temptation however!

You will be given more information when you arrive at the house on other local events.
